About the event

Hello Floral and Fungal Friends!

Spring has spring and summer's begun! As the snow recedes from our higher elevations, we will be heading up into the mountains to discover some of our most unique and beautiful landscapes.

Details

During this walk, we will be experiencing some of the amazing flora that the Eastern Sierra Nevada have to offer! The Truckee area is home to some of the most extensive diversity in this mountain range, including a number of notable edible and medicinal plants.

While having a strong focus on the human interactions with these plants, we will also cover the general ecology of this floristically diverse location and exactly what makes the broader Truckee area such a magical place to live when it comes to our natural places.

Time and Location

TBD 9am-12noon

The walk will be a slow botanical hike consisting of 2-4 miles of moderately-rated trails with occasional elevation changes. Our walk will end at roughly 1pm, but we will have lunch out in the forest for those interested! Walk will take place rain or shine.
