About the event
Ok, I know we said berry season was our favorite...and weren't lying. At least, not exactly? However, there is just something magical about the weather changing from summer to autumn, a chill in the air welcoming the shortening days and that first acorn which bonks you on the head.
Details
On this walk, we will be laying low, hanging out in some local parks while exploring the surprising diversity of Oaks which call this area home. Interestingly enough, despite this fact, Reno does not have a single native Oak!
In this workshop, we'll begin by learning to how to identify the common characteristics of Oaks. Then, we'll turn our attention to food, teaching participants to utilize these wonderful trees to create everything from breads, to oa(k)meal to other tasty treats. They are one of the wild foods we consume most often throughout the year and are truly a gift to every food-lover's pantry.
Time and Location
Exact location and other details will be sent at the time of registration. Participants should expect a short, leisurely walk along level ground.
